چکیده

The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) and ERA5 reanalysis data are used to research the asymmetric precipitation induced by tropical cyclone (TC) Nada, which made landfall on southeastern coast of Indian Peninsula December 2, 2016. mechanism is analyzed during passage TC. results show that spatial average rate increased a maximum 1.78 mm/hr Peninsula, where vorticity TC center more than 5 × 10–4 s–1 at 850 hPa 06:00 UTC 1. Near troposphere had strong upward convection vertical velocity 0.7 pa/s. positive (negative) wind shear was located left (right) side path. value area consistent with distribution extreme precipitation. TC-induced rainfall mainly caused superposition Nada low-level cold air intrusion, resulted in unstable atmospheric stratification, uplifting warm humid producing convection. This study offers new insights into interaction intrusion northern Ocean.

Response of tropical cyclone potential intensity over the north Indian Ocean to global warming

[1] The responses of tropical cyclone (TC) potential intensity (PI) and the associated environmental control parameters over the North Indian Ocean (NIO) to the doubled CO2 concentration are assessed based on the ensemble simulation from 15 coupled general circulation models (CGCMs) participated in the Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change (IPCC) Forth Assessment Report (AR4). The results ...

A TRMM-Based Tropical Cyclone Cloud and Precipitation Feature Database

The Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite has provided invaluable data for tropical cyclone (TC) research since December 1997. The challenge, however, is how to analyze and efficiently utilize all of the information from several instruments on TRMM that observe the same target. In this study, a tropical cyclone precipitation, cloud, and convective cell feature (TCPF) database has...

Vertical Structure of Tropical Cyclone Rainbands as Seen by the TRMM Precipitation Radar

Ten years of data from the Tropical Rainfall Measurement Mission satellite’s Precipitation Radar (TRMM PR) show the vertical structure of tropical cyclone rainbands. Radar-echo statistics show that rainbands have a two-layered structure, with distinct modes separated by the melting layer. The ice layer is a combination of particles imported from the eyewall and ice left aloft as convective cell...

Tropical cyclone genesis over the south China sea

The South China Sea (SCS) is among areas in the Northwest Pacific most frequented by tropical cyclones (TCs) with intensity reaching a tropical storm or stronger. It is also an area of significant TC genesis. In this study, TC genesis in SCS and its monsoonal variability for 1948–2003 are analyzed. Altogether, in May–September (southwest monsoon period) 157 TC geneses have occurred north of 12°...
